A bubble chart is a variation of a scatter chart in which the data points are replaced with bubbles, and an additional dimension of the data is represented in the size of the bubbles. A bubble chart can be used to plot upto 4 variables i.e. X axis values, Y axis values, Size of the bubble and Color of the bubble
A bubble chart is used to visualize a data set with two to four dimensions. The first two dimensions are visualized as coordinates, the third as color and the fourth as size and color
We can use a bubble chart instead of a scatter chart if the data has three data series that each contains a set of values. The sizes of the bubbles are determined by the values in the third data series.
- Three Values Per Data Points: Three values are required for each bubble. These values can be in rows or columns on the excel, but they must be in the following order: x value, y value, and then z value.
- Multiple Data Series: Plotting multiple data series in a bubble chart is similar to plotting multiple data series in a scatter chart. Scatter charts use sets of x values and y values, but bubble charts use sets of x values, y values, and z values.
Helical Insight has an inbuilt option of Bubble chart. You can connect to database, drag and drop the columns, add filter if required and visualize the data in an area chart inside browser. Further customization’s can be done by adding CSS, HTML and Javascripts. Customization could be things like the color, header, background color, hover-over information etc
