How to See Permission Level of a Folder

While viewing the properties of  files, there is something known as Permission level. In this tool there are basically 6 level of permissions.

Description

0

No Access

User  has no access to the file. User can’t see it in repository, and can’t do any other operation even if he knows the URL.

Execute Only

User can’t see the file in the repository, but he/she can execute the file and see the result if he/she is aware of the URL.

Read Only

User can see the file in the repository. He/She can open the file and see the result but can’t do any other kind of operation like delete/share/rename etc.

Read + Write

User can see the file in repository and edit the file. User does not have the permission to delete or share.

Read + Write + Delete

Apart from sharing, user can do any other kind of operation like read or write or delete.

Read + Write + Delete + Share

This is the highest privilege which generally means he is the owner/creator of the file. User can do any operation like read/write/delete/share.



Note : By default if you are the owner or creator your permission level will be 5, whereas if something has been shared with you then the permission level will be 2 (read only). Whenever a resource is shared (like metadata, report, dashboard etc) a sharing tag gets added along with a permission level. If you are having access to Helical Insight server you can also open that file in notepadd++ (or equivalent) and change the permission levels.
