In this Article, we will provide you a brief on Area Chart. Information is graphed on two axes, using the data points and are connected by line segments. The area between the axis and line is usually done with color or shading for simple understanding. Area charts can be used to compare two or more number of categories.
These charts are used to show cumulative totals using numbers or percentages over time. Area charts are used for showing trends over time among connected attributes. The area chart is just like the line chart except that the area below the plotted line is filled with some colors to show the difference.
When there are number of attributes, the first attribute is plotted as a line with some color and followed by the second attribute, and so on.
Different Area Charts:
1. Area Step Chart: Area charts that use vertical and horizontal lines to connect the data points during a series forming a step-like are referred to as step-area charts.
2. Area Spline Chart: Area charts in that data points are connected by curves rather than straight lines are referred to as spline-area charts
When to Use an Area Chart:
Area charts are better for communication overall trend, as opposed to the individual values. Use a stacked area chart when you have more information.
There are 3 different area chart, and each has its best use, depending on the information which we are going to use.

2. Stacked Area Chart: These charts are used to show part-to-whole relationships, helping show however every category contributes to the aggregate total.
3.100% Stacked Area Chart: This is best-accustomed show distribution of categories as components of a full, where the aggregate total is unimportant.
