The simplest method to add input parameters into a dashboard is first by creating a report with a filter applied on it. Then open dashboard designer and drag this report in the dashboard designer canvas with a filter (input parameter that is to be applied) applied to it.
Now click on the filter icon as shown in the image below
On the top left corner, one can see options like filter, edit and delete as highlighted in above image.
User can click on the filter icon and see the filter(s). On clicking on this filter, a select box with default value will be generated which is nothing but a drop-down list of the input parameters.
User can also right click on the report panel and hover on the Filters option to see the list of filters. Click on the filter name to add it to the dashboard.
User can check all the dashboard variables present by clicking on ‘Variables’ tab which is highlighted in above screenshot
Now click on the edit icon of the select box and check whether the input filter to be passed is selected
Header: Header name for the select box
Type: Type of Object
Multi-select: To select multiple inputs
Now click on the edit icon of the report and check in the listeners that the input filter is selected
Click on ‘Add’ input and inter the input name. Input name would be the label of the filter which is applied to the report.
Select the appropriate input value and save this setting
Users would now be able to select any input from the select box and see the changes in the report
