In this article, we will be providing a brief on Scatter Plots. Scatter plots and line charts look similar. There is a difference in the way each of these chart types plots the data along the X-axis and Y-axis.
A scatter chart always has two value axes to show one set of numerical data along X-axis and another set of numerical values along Y-axis. The chart displays points at the intersection of an x and y numerical value, combining these values into single data points. These data points may be distributed evenly or unevenly across the horizontal axis, depending on the data.
When to Use Scatter Charts:
- When we have paired numerical data.
- To find out whether or not the variables are related or not.
Scatter charts are commonly used for displaying and comparing numeric values, such as statistical data. These charts are useful to show the relationships among the numeric values in several data series, and they can plot two groups of numbers as one series of xy coordinates.
Helical Insight ADhoc tool directly supports Scatter Chart. You can connect to any datasource, drag and drop the columns, add filters if required and visualize the result in scatter chart inside a web browser. Also further customizations can be done by adding Javascript, CSS and HTML. Customizations could be like axis, color, header, background color etc.
