Walkthrough Helical Insight version 5.1

We had a major release of our version 5.0(Version 5.0 build 960) few months back wherein we had made a lot of changes and focused a lot on improving the entire UI UX as well as there were a lot of changes were made on the backend frontend.

We have been working hard on latest release and are ready with our version 5.1 release. Below we are highlighting major enhancements and improvements done here

Performance Enhancement

From our version 5.0, we have worked on the performance enhancement. We reworked on various service calls, optimized and reduced the number of calls. Now, as compared to build 960, any report/ dashboard is loading 60-70% faster. The same kind of optimization is done on other modules as well.

Support of special characters

Now, while creating users, roles, profiles and organizations we are now supporting special characters as well in those names. The same has been added as many customers were having special characters like _ @ in the names.

Import Export

Import export functionality allows to export from one server and import into another server. This is helpful when we are migrating files from one instance to another, like development to production etc.

Recycle Bin

This is a new feature addition which can allow admin to either restore or delete or assign to someone else to any of the resources which got deleted. This includes folders, datasources, metadata, report, dashboard, users, roles etc. Read more here

Text chart support in grid chart

From version 5.1 onwards, we are now supporting a text kind of chart also on Grid Charts. It can allow to create text kind of charts in Grid chart. Learn more here.

Version 5.0 had several charts customization like Formatting numbers/date/datetime,Title Subtitle, Color, Axis chart type change, Pie/donutvalue/percentage, cache customization and Legend. With version 5.1, we have added several other new customization options which includes

    1. Card customization: Card customization allows various things like prefix, suffix, images, icons, title, SVG and other options.

    1. BackgroudColors: The color customization option now allows even to configure the color but for table/crosstab pivot chart we now have the option of specifying the color as background color also.

    1. Crosstab Total/subtotals: Now the cross/pivot view supports options of having options like total, subtotal, row total, column total, grand total etc.

Bug Fixing

Various kind of bugs which were identified on metadata module, charts customizations, grid settings, log settings have been fixed with this release and made part of the installer package.
